The Lost Thing - Candoco Dance Company/ The Royal Opera
Director and Choreographer Ben Wright
A family show, directed and choreographed by Ben Wright with music by Jules Maxwell. This magical re-imagining of Shaun Tan’s beautifully illustrated book charts the journey of a boy who helps a lost thing find its way home. The production was a unique collaboration between Candoco Dance Company and The Royal Opera House and involved a fully inclusive cast of disabled and non-disabled singers, dancers and musicians who came together to tell a story our essential interdependence with nature.
Reviews
The point about The Lost Thing is that it’s uncategorisable….a work about taking care of nature before it’s lost.
The Guardian
The Lost Thing captures our imagination in this complex mix of dance and opera…Using both disabled and non-disabled performers, Candoco and The Royal Opera House provide a captivating show which encompasses comedy to near tragedy tugging at our heartstrings.
London Living Large
The Lost Thing is a kind, thought-provoking, and affecting family show that ignores the artificial lines between dance, opera and different abilities.
